A very special milestone

Ten years ago e.motion21 opened its doors with a vision to enhance lives and changes perceptions of Down syndrome in society through evidence-based dance and fitness programs and uncovering new potential in our people and in the communities in which we live.

Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine that e.motion21 would soon come to signify family, friendship and connection to so many people across Victoria and beyond, or that we would raise expectations and awareness in millions of people’s minds through our performances, media and documentary films. We are incredibly proud of our e.motion21 family and we couldn’t let such a special milestone pass by without appropriate recognition.

Against this backdrop, we warmly invite you to celebrate e.motion21’s 10 year gala.

Behind the scenes photos of our gala shoot

A challenge is something we always look forward to at e.motion21 and our gala photo shoot in Melbourne proved just that. We love Melbourne and we love Italian food, wine, song and dance, and since nobody does e.motion quite like the Italians, it made perfect sense to have an Italian infused gala for our 10th anniversary!

We then set about creating an ‘Italian glamour meets edgy Melbourne’ vibe for our publicity shoot involving a Vespa, graffiti, a cobbled lane way, Cappellazzo Couture ballgowns, velvet dinner jackets and loads of tourists. It could only be photographed in one place…Hosier Lane, the graffiti capital of the world. Thanks to the incredible energy of our models, parents, volunteers and many onlookers we pulled it off… insieme!

We would like to acknowledge John Donegan, Caitlin Devos and Roy Lange for these great photos!

Feeling extra generous?

e.motion21 is a not-for-profit and volunteers and donations are our lifeblood. If you would like to volunteer or donate to our organisation, we would be eternally grateful and very happy to acknowledge your contribution on the night (with your permission). Please note that all financial donations of $2 or more are tax deductible. In terms of non-financial donations, if you have time, skills or goods to donate please do get in touch.
