Participant Welcome
Hello everyone I am Ned Middleton. I dance with e.motion21 Bendigo. I am looking forward to being a part of the Big Dance performance in Castlemaine on April 29. I enjoyed doing my solo dance performance in front of everyone at World Down Syndrome Day celebrations at Flinders St Station and eating out with my family afterwards. I hope everyone enjoys dancing this term.

Ned - Bendigo

I look forward to dancing with my friends. I like learning new dance moves each week and am looking forward to dancing the concert!! 😄😄

Our Values from the CEO
Welcome to term 2! Gee, it only feels like yesterday we welcomed the new year. Now we are fast heading into winter and preparing for our concert spectacular and annual audit to ensure our participants can access NDIS funding for our programs.
As we continue to work hard behind the scenes for people with Down syndrome, I often reflect on the things I love about e.motion21, one being the values our organisation is founded on.
FUN!
We are starting to prepare for our Concert Spectacular on 23 September at Camberwell Grammar!
CARE
We are passionate about our participants and the impact our programs have on them and their families. Over 55% of our families have been with e.motion21 for over 4 years.
LEARN
2017 Participant Survey revealed 69% of participants are satisfied with the type of services provided and 21% somewhat satisfied. We would like to understand what type of services you think we should be offering?

RESPECT
We have 76 weekly class volunteers who support our participants and teachers with which we couldn’t do, what we do without you. We recruit and train volunteers throughout the year to support our work in classes, at events or operationally.

Raising The Bar

Recently the Australian High Commission hosted a screening of our documentary Raising the Bar...in Delhi! Followed by another screening in Mumbai! We were thrilled for our documentary to premiere in India and share it's message of inclusion with the many Indian government dignitaries, NGO representatives, huge Bollywood stars and directors, as well as the many, many families that traveled vast distances to celebrate their child. Incredible attention and interest in the abilities of Down syndrome was created from these viewings and promotion - reaching millions of people.  A wonderful review in The Times of India reached a staggering 2.8 million! Whoo-hoo! Viewing of Raising The Bar has also commenced in Australian and Indian schools, set to reach millions more people.

Volunteering
Thank You Movers!
THANK YOU to all of the Movers for an awesome start to 2018. YOU have been a driving force for the participants and their families for another successful Moverthon to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. Whether you were helping in weekly classes to prepare or you helped on the day, we could not have achieved the amazing experience without each and every one of you. ❤️
Volunteers Wanted!
As we look toward to Term 2 we are recruiting for Movers in class support roles across all the sites and Site Managers (Volunteer) for Ballarat, Geelong and Hoppers Crossing. Register your interest here if you or anyone you know is interested in joining an environment built on our core values of CARE, RESPECT, LEARN and most of all FUN!
Impact21 Update!
Impact21, a pioneering education and employment program for young people with Down syndrome that leads to real jobs. We are continuing to work hard behind the scenes on this program. Recently we held a family information session and from those that attended we would like to invite 4 participants with Down syndrome to join our upcoming employee workshop. The workshop will be held in CBD offices, Monday 30 April 10am - 2pm, to determine our future employee likes, interests and aspirations for building appropriate job descriptions...VERY exciting! The workshop will be fun, starting off with a Beat Fit™ class for our future employees to shine and will be supported by Cate Sayers and Anna Booth.
Please email cate.sayers@emotion21.org.au by 25 April if you are interested in attending this workshop.
Impact21 is an initiative developed by e.motion21.
Moverthon - WDSD Celebrations!
Saturday 24 March was a very exciting day for e.motion21!  To celebrate World Down Syndrome Day we gathered at Flinders St Station for a fun morning of music, dance and Beat Fit™ on the station concourse.  Joined by our friends from Dulux Group, Carlton Football Club, Ausdance Victoria and MC Brian Davison we enjoyed moving bodies moving boundaries together!  Many commuters stopped in their tracks to watch and join in the celebrations, with many also making a donation.  Thank you to all the e.motion21 families, friends and supporters who travelled far and wide to share and celebrate the talents and abilities of Down syndrome with Melbourne. A Huge thank you goes out to the Dulux Group for their ongoing generous support of our WDSD celebrations as well as Metro Trains for allowing us to fill Flinders St Station with music, dance and fitness!
KewFest, Kew Site Performance
'Perfect weather greeted us. Being later in the day the participants were rewarded with the largest crowd I have seen at one of these events. They were most appreciative too! The dancers always shine for the audience. I'm glad I could make it, they are a tonic for me when they perform with their heart and soul.'  Trish (volunteer)
Big Dance Is Coming!
We are thrilled to be participating in Big Dance - the largest inclusive dance celebration in the world! Big Dance commissions acclaimed choreographers to create a work that can be learnt by anyone in the world, through online tutorials and community workshops. Big Dance engages thousands of people with one unifying choreographic piece, performed across local regional and metropoliatan communities. Learn the moves and join us and thousands of others to dance at Federation Square, Lilydale or Castlemaine on International Dance Day, 29 April.

Anyone can participate in Big Dance - click here to learn the moves!
NDIS Update
To continue to provide best practice in service delivery to all our participants and as a requirement of the National Disability Insurance Agency (C’th) and the Department of Human Services (Vic), e.motion21 must undergo an annual external review. This independent review is being conducted on Tuesday 15 May, 2018 by auditors from Quantum Certification Services, who are evaluating e.motion21’s services and governance against the Human Services Standards (Vic) and the National Standards for Disability Service (C’th). Quantum are paid by e.motion21 to undertake this audit.

Should the Quantum auditors wish to interview any carer, staff member or volunteer we will be in touch with you to gain your consent for the interview and to arrange a suitable time.  Thank you for your cooperation.
